ABOUT

Marked by increasing the presence of conceptual works, time, the notion of being and ephemerality became a strong attribute of BaCAA #5. Deni ‘Ackay’ Ramdani’s “Nol Derajat (Degree Zero),” “Holding Breath” by Cynthia Delaney Suwito, and Etza Meisyara’s “How does it feel to be a Refugee” acquired the awards—becoming the first event won in the majority of female artists. The three works show a pattern of staged or scripted happening, autonomous notions, and compendium towards the empirical; framing cyclical ontologies toward the material, being, workings of the world, and their flux in time.
