Bandung Contemporary Art Award (BaCAA) initiated by ArtSociates in 2010 is a competition for Indonesian emerging artists. Aiming to integrate the local with the international art world, BaCAA #1 set the award’s standard of highlighting novel ideas and talents beyond the mainstream. Anggun Priambodo’s video work “Sinema Elektronik,” Erika Ernawan’s painting-photography-performance “Mirror Sees Me Series,” along with paintings of Erianto “Today Parcel” and Aditya Novali’s “Mooi In(Die) Series Tomorrow” became winners of BaCAA #1. With strong foundations on the medium, their works showcase new forms in permutations of form and a multitude of narrative discourse.
