ABOUT

BaCAA #3 exist at the time when Indonesian art world climate was dwindling. It nevertheless broke through by giving more awards toward experimental works. Leonardiansyah Allenda and his untitled work, M. Akbar’s “Gaze Control #2,” Syaiful Garibaldi’s “Atoah Epok: Ehoor Lamura (Like Art: Fungal Statement),” and “Layers” by Mujahidin Nurrahman were awarded the 3rd BaCAA. Each works toward drawing complexities within each’s theme and context, sharing a gesture in subverting the meanings found in given structures and through unconventional medium. BaCAA #3 proves that context itself may become an entrance for assessing the strengths within a work.
